Stasis in the Dark

Alice is a queer woman artist originally from Tokomaru, Aotearoa, but living and working in Melbourne. Through her practice, she addresses themes of identity, intimacy and memory. She often uses the process of image collection and drawing as self care, to work through lived experiences of disassociation and anxiety. Her recent work has explored relationships between photography and drawing, observing the way the meaning and weight of an image transforms when it is translated from photograph into drawing. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours from Massey University Wellington, a Post Graduate Diploma in Illustration, also from Massey University Wellington. In addition to her arts practice, she also works as a gallery educator.

This is her STASIS IN THE DARK series.
